Wings Over Baltics Airshow 2018

An international air show Wings Over Baltics was held from 4th to 5th August in Tukums, Latvia. Attracting thousands of visitors, it was the biggest aviation event in the Baltic States. Wings Over Baltics Airshow 2018 brought together industry professionals and enthusiasts from the Baltics, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Aviation show within airBaltic representatives introduced the newly established airBaltic Training Pilot Academy, as well as pilot training aircraft showed – Diamond Aircraft. One such aircraft costs around 400 thousand euros.

One of the most important things during the event was the race of the BMW M5 against the Baltic Bees Jet Team L39C, in which both transports arrived to the finish almost at the same time. Baltic Bees Jet Team was formed in 2008. First flights were flown in a two-ship formation. In the following years two more jets were added to the team and a full aerobatic display program was created. From the very beginning, flight instructor and creator of the display program is the well known skilled aerobatic pilot Valery Sobolev. The program was developed in a very short period of time and Baltic Bees Jet Team gained reputation as a professional civilian aerobatic display team. Home-base of the team is Jurmala Airport in Latvia. Display consists of complex and tricky vertical maneuvers and exceptional individual performance with unique and top difficulty concept.

Visitors of the event were able to view the aircrafts, as well as take part in flights. In addition to the event, you could see the Sky Zoo Aircraft museum exposition, Meet & Greet with world-famous Latvian athletes, expo and shopping area, catering area, Latvian Military Forces Equipment, inflatable attractions, ball pools for children, air balloon flights and others entertainment all day long for the whole family!
